Entries for the 2015 Knysna Simola Hill-climb are open and the weekend will see a new event - Supercar Thursday - as well as the return of the media challenge.
From May 14 the road leading up to the Simola Golf and Country Estate, in Knysna, Western Cape, will transform into a motorsport spectacle and play host to more than 10 000 spectators and dozens of high-speed and classic vehicles.
The inaugural Supercar Thursday (May 14) will have 50 supercar owners race high-performance vehicles up the Simola Hill road. Though a non-competitive event, with no prizes, it will still be timed.
Classic Car Friday on May 15 will have 50 competitors battling it out. Spectators will be able to see a wide variety of famous classics in action, among them iconic Jaguars such as the MK II and E-type, competing in categories ranging from pre-war through 60's, 70's and 80's classics.
The highlight of the hill-climb will be the King of the Hill competition over May 16/17. The timed event will have many different vehicles attempt to grab glory in their respective classes.
The weekend will also see the second Simola Media Challenge. Five journalists will compete for the title of South Africa’s fastest motoring scribe and having their name immortalised on the Alucat Cup. The 2014 winner, Stuart Grant, will return to defend his title from four challengers.
Each will race a Jaguar XF R-Sports.
Competitors can register online.
General admission passes for spectators can be bought at the gate for the duration of the event.
