BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala took the lead in the Rally of Argentina on Friday, finishing 18.2sec ahead of Norway's Petter Solbert and 28.8sec ahead of France's Sebastian Ogier.

Mikko Hirvonen of Finland was fourth, 43.5sec off the pace.

Seven-time series champion Sebastian Loeb of France picked up a one-minute penalty on the first full day for entering a control point prematurely.

Friday's legs were run on a mixture of dirt, gravel and asphalt in the province of Cordoba, located about 800 kilometers (500 miles) north of Buenos Aires. - AP
