Citroen out, Ogier joins VW

PARIS, France - Frenchman Sebastien Ogier, third in the 2011 World Rally championship for Citroen, has signed with VW for 2012.

The German team said in a statement: "Ogier has been signed as VW's first driver for the FIA World Rally championship. He will be instrumental in helping to shape the development of the Polo R WRC for our 2013 entry into the WRC."

Ogier, 27, will continue to work with also ex-Citroen co-driver Julien Ingrassia.

'WE'VE A GOAL'

"VW is No.1 in Europe and will soon be No.1 in the world," Ogier was quoted as saying.

"I"m sure the brand will compete with the goal of clinching the WRC title. I'm happy to be part of it from the outset."
