Fierce competition is expected in the Engen Volkswagen Cup championship on Saturday June 29, 2013. Round five will take place at the East London circuit, the fastest yet this season for the VW Polo Vivo racers.
At this point Kosie Weyers is the man to beat with a lead of 53 points. If Weyers scores no points in East London and either of his closest rivals, Dewald Brummer or Mathew Hodges, puts in a perfect performance, Weyers will still lead the series by a point.
TIGHT RACE
The fight in the Masters category is not so clear-cut. Eddie Rodrigues’ lead in the category is threatened by Ettiene du Toit, who claimed victory at the last event, with ten points separating the two. Juan Gerber is just six points behind du Toit.
Television presenter and racing driver Marius Roberts will return for this race and the following Phakisa event even though he was originally scheduled to only race in Zwartkops.
