Heavy rain that fell throughout the region on Friday night caused two special stages totalling 42km to be cancelled ahead of Saturday's stages.
The rally is scheduled to finish at Kings Beach parking area in Port Elizabeth on the afternoon of July 14.
SPECTATORS WARNED
The 34km special stage seven (Kings View in the Longmore Forest) and special stage 11 at the PE oval track have been scrapped.
The rain-drenched fourth round of the SA National Rally championship, lost the PE oval stage on Friday, reducing the scheduled 65km of competitive rallying to 57.
Spectators were warned not to travel to the Longmore Forest stages of Culturama, PPC2 and Sinkdam as the access road were almost impassable.
A total of 38 of the original 42 cars that started the rally from the Auto Pavilion in Uitenhage at noon on Friday were to start Saturday's remaining five stages at 8am.
Clerk of the Course Joe Fourie and a band of officials were up early inspecting the route.
“We don’t like to cancel stages of a rally," he said, "but the severe weather conditions and the need to take into account the safety of the competitors and spectators has resulted in a decision that was unavoidable."
