INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - More than a dozen IndyCar drivers have met series officials to discuss ways to make the sport safer.
The meeting was in response to Dan Wheldon's death during a fiery 15-car crash at the season finale in Las Vegas.
Dario Franchitti and Tony Kanaan, two of Wheldon's closest friends, said drivers discussed how to avoid another fatal crash.
Neither discussed specific proposals but IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard and Brian Barnhart, the series' president of competition, both attended the meeting.
Kanaan says drivers must continue to push for better safety measures during the six-month off season.
