Cape Town - Wheels24 reported earlier in May 2016, that Volkswagen's GTI Clubsport S set a new lap record for front-wheel drive cars at the famed Nurburgring race track.
The track-focused Clubsport S posted a time of 7mins49.21 You can watch that video here.
Arrives in July 2016
VW South Africa says it won't be making the Clubsport S available in Mzansi however, the automaker confirmed it would launch the 'standard' Clubsport with 195kW/350Nm, locally.
The Clubsport gains new sports seats, alcantara trim and a tweaked exterior compared to the standard Golf GTI.
Ahead of the local launch, Wheels24's Sean Parker spotted the Clubsport at the 2016 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb in Knysna.

Jaguar South Africa showed off one of only five Project 7 sports cars in the country at the event. The hand-built Project 7 is powered by a 423kW/680Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine.
The car seen below is a customer's vehicle and was used for VIP runs up the Simola Hill.
