Toyota unveiled its South African Rally championship contender ahead of the 2013 Sasol Rally. The rally-tuned Yaris will be driven by Giniel de Villiers with Greg Godrich telling him where to go.
The SA rally Yaris is the first to contest a national rally championship anywhere in the world.
SECOND APPEARANCE
The Yaris has replaced the Auris in which Villiers has been contesting the premier S2000 class alongside Toyota team mates Johnny Gemmell and Leeroy Poulter since 2012.
Gemmell and co-driver Carolyn Swan, as well as Poulter and co-driver Elvene Coetzee, made their second appearance in their Toyota Yaris rally cars in the rally over April 20/21, 2013.
Toyota CEO Andrew Miller said: “We’re delighted to be able to put Giniel and Greg into the latest Toyota rally cars. Giniel has been flying the Imperial flag high in this exciting and popular form of motorsport, just as he has done for the past two years in the Dakar Rally."
