‘Ring time for Lexus supercar
Two production versions of Lexus' 412-kW LFA will contest the upcoming Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Although this is the third outing for the Lexus supercar, May’s 24-hour event will be the first time production models will be tossed about the legendary track.
The fact that development versions of the new supercar were tested at the track to fine-tune performance and handling characteristics shows in the LFA’s performance figures.
A mid-mounted V10 engine spews forth 412 kW and allows the supercar (with an lightweight composite body) to hurtle to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds before topping off beyond the 320 km/h-mark.
The race LFAs will be prepared by Gazoo Racing. Toyota master test driver Hiromu Naruse will head the team of experienced endurance racing campaigners including four Japanese and three German drivers.
Lexus South Africa had previously said the V10 LFA supercar will be introduced here, albeit in very limited numbers. Prospective owners should be keen to see how the final car stands up the ravages of an out-and-out endurance race, then.
