Mad new Z4 gets 353kW M3 V8
If you plan vacations (and weekends) around FIA GT3 regulation racing, BMW has an awfully attractive factory deal available, its Z4 GT3.
This new racer from BMW amazingly retains central-locking and optional air-conditioning. It adds a roll-cage and bins the stock Z4's 3l twin-turbo in-line six for a M3 sourced V8 tuned to GT3 regulations.
Finished in classic Munich racing regalia (white, with contrasting blue and red) and trimmed out with a track styling pack it looks properly fast - even at standstill.
V8 heart transplant
The naturally-aspirated V8 engine benefits from a (very) liberal Type-408 ECU and Power400 control unit which bumps power significantly (by 44 units) to a new peak of 353kW…
Drive remains to the rear wheels exclusively, shifting via a six-speed sequential transmission. The Z4 GT3 features a track biased pulse braking system and central-locking wheels too.
Obviously the folding roof mechanism is not quite functional anymore (due to that massive fixed rear wing), trimming weight.
One pretty racecar
From a styling perspective the track certified airflow management goodies really look the part, fleshing out the Z4’s long-nose proportions perfectly.
Around the front there’s a chin-spoiler with practically no ground clearance, whilst at the back the elaborate diffuser (and even more elaborate fixed rear wing) stylishly round off the GT3's authentic endurance racer styling theme.
We particularly like the front wheelarch extensions…
So, are you keen to have one of the neatest new trackday toys around? Perhaps you’re a committed amateur, journeying parts of the FIA GT3 European Championship, International GT Open and ADAC GT Masters?
Well, either way, €298 000 will secure you one of the first Z4 GT3s being delivered in the second half of this year…
