Whilst Ford hot hatch fans the world over wait impatiently for the emergence of a Fiesta ST, the company’s has shown off its new S2000 rally challenger instead.

Built by M-Sport in the English Lake District, the Fiesta S2000 is a rather good-looking, yet hugely flexible rally car – able to contest a variety of championships.

Technically, the car features a Duratec 2l engine which spins all the way to 8 000r/min, producing 205kW and 260Nm along the way.

Agile - as it should be

Drive is distributed to all four wheels via a permanent all-wheel drive system, shifting ratios through a sequential transmission actuating courtesy of an AP clutch arrangement.

Oversized Brembo calipers grab equally large rotors at each wheel corner. In race trim, the Fiesta S2000 tallies only 1 197kg of mass – suffice to say, performance should be keen.

It needs to be good too, considering Ford’s epic rallying heritage and the burden of that S2000 moniker.

The Fiesta S2000 is geared to compete in both the IRC and S2000 World Cup, and you could probably configure it for a host of domestic championships too.
