New Zealander Chris Birch won the Champagne Valley National Enduro, thereby securing the National Enduro Championship title.
The Champagne Valley Enduro, the final round of the National Enduro Championship, took place on September 9 and 10, 2011, at Champagne Valley at the foot of the Drakensberg.
Birch (KTM) was the deserved winner as he had won four out of the five championship rounds and held a 11-point lead over his closest rival Jade Gutzeit (Yamaha) going into the race.
He had to finish in fourth place or better to secure the Overall championship and the Open class championship.
In the 200cc class, Marc Torlage (Yamaha) pipped former champion Altus de Wet (KTM) to the post.
KTM was the dominant manufacturer at the Champagne Valley Enduro with 11 out of the top 15 riders using the bike, securing it the National Enduro manufacturer’s title.
