2013 Dakar: Peterhansel in control

COPIAPO, Chile - Stéphane Peterhansel remains firmly in control of the Dakar 2013 after another display of superb driving during Stage 12.

By finishing in the top five, Peterhansel neutralised the ambitions of his closest rivals.

DE VILLIERS IN SECOND

He still reigns over the general standings with a lead of 50min21 over South Africa's Giniel de Villiers (Toyota) and 1hour31min06 over his Mini team mate, Nani Roma, who won stage 12.

The third Mini in the top five, driven by Leonid Novitskiy, lies 3min41 behind Roma.

In fifth place lies Orlando Terranova who rounds off the potential success for the X-Raid team, who could finish with four cars amongst the first five in Santiago.

Carlos Sousa (Great Wall Motors) occupies sixth place, 2hours39min46 behind the leader. Sousa's Dakar chase represents a fine performance to celebrate three years in the world's toughest endurance rance for the Chinese constructor.
