Renault's foray into the budget end of the market starts with the launch of the Logan sedan at the upcoming Joburg show.
Renault's Logan sedan will launch the first salvo on the budget market ahead of the Sandero hatchback's assault from February 2009.
The sedan is powered by an eight-valve four-cylinder 1.6-litre engine developing 64 kW at 5 500 r/min and a peak torque figure of 128 Nm at 3 100 r/min. This will take the sedan to a quoted top speed of 175 km/h.
A five-speed manual gearbox drives the front wheels.
Renault claims fuel consumption on a combined cycle of 7.2 l/100 km.
Although offered as a more affordable model, the sole Logan model is packed with standard equipment.
Comfort and convenience items include power steering, air conditioning, remote central locking, power windows all around and an MP3-compatible radio/CD player.
ABS with EBD and a rigid passenger cell are some of the items ensuring occupants' safety.
For added assurance, Logan is covered by a three-year/100 000 km warranty. Service intervals are at 15 000 km and a three-year/45 000 km service plan is an option.
