2008-10-30 15:19

Cover girl Lee-Ann Liebenberg assisted with the unveiling of the Audi RS6 at the first media day of the Johannesburg International Motor Show 2008, which opens to the public on November 1 and runs till November 9.

Current Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition cover girl Lee-Ann Liebenberg, assisted with the unveiling of the Audi RS6 at the first media day of the Johannesburg International Motor Show 2008.

    Audi's RS6 with its twin-turbo V10 delivers a neck-snapping 426 kW and 650 Nm.

Linked to a six-speed tiptronic gearbox, this 5.0-litre V10 with TFSI catapults this car with a supercar-like 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds.

Top speed is governed at 250 km/h, although Audi modestly notes that this could be increased to 280 km/h.

It will go on sale here early in 2009.

Used to be a AUDI fan until I got a new Q7 turbo diesel. Load of junk. Gearbox useless and turbo lag rediculous for a R600k car. My 1.4 Corsa bakkie quicker off the line Build quality crap and always using up the motorplan. Next car an BMW.

The N/a vs Forced induction is over. Now ALL German Makers are using forced induction on some of thier models. Audis have to have higher KW outputs to compensate for the weight of quattro, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Quattro rules! Try it before you knock it :-) If the point of using smaller engines for faster cars is a big deal then we should be comparing Jap engines to BMWs :-) BTW I would take Lee-ann and the RS6. Both hit the right buttons :-)

Such anger, such passion. Hope the BMW guys do know the Next M5 will get Turbo's... And the E 6X AMG will follow suite after a last hurrah's for the mighty 6.2L.

Finally something to revive this segment, after a long M5 dominance, the A6 has been boring us to death, I would still go for the M5 though because it is still a legendary sedan.

Brenton, don’t you have anything better to write about other than writing pathetic little comments. Please stick to facts – a new RS6 in 8 months, not even BMW can do such a stupid thing. GROW UP.

Het Brenton my China... see the 320i and writing lessons are paying off... You a true BMW fan - now that you can spell BMW! The BMW from the Flat Earth Society (M5) is faster. Yes. Very much. But the RS4 (less CC AND cylinders) actually beat your precious around a track (Thanks Stig’s times) and they both came out - 5 years ago. Tell me, with your 320i (if it is that big BMW you drive) how shiny is your sunglasses frame anyway?? Mine is VERY shiny with my 316i Quad Turbo Box Shape!!!

Brenton, Audi has pretty big gaps in between the releases of RS models. The RS6 also needs more power and torque to reach similar performance figures because of the weight and power drain of the quattro system. Not knocking BMW's, great cars. Just letting you know.

@ Brenton. It's BMW thats famous for depreciation.

@ Brenton .... not to mention the fact that the AUDI is turbo charged compared to BMW N/A engine.

    10/30/2008 2:19 PM
...and I suppose your M5 maintains its value? And if you look a bit closer, you will find the RS6 doesn't come out every 6 months! ENJOY YOUR BMW!

Brenton, you BMW guys are really scare of Audi - that's why you always comment negative - PLEASE BMW guy's, there are other cars that is also good!!!

Benton you tosser - what you fail to understand is that Audi can do this at a way more effective rate with less polution and expenses unlike BMW who try to impress with brute force and pollutes the world

I like the M5, great engine, but the 650 Nm of torque of this baby must be awesome. That swings it for me.
    Brenton
    10/30/2008 1:42 PM
Gee-Wow, it takes Audi 3 more years than BMW to produce a large sedan capable of 0-100 in 4.6seconds. Unfortunately the M5 only needs 373kW and 500Nm to achieve this, versus 425kW and 650Nm. Engineering excellence is only achieved through efficient simplicity, not brute force. Now, some Fruits out there will comment that it looks better than an M5. Then get an A6 if looks are what you want, save some money. Because you'll need it as depreciation chews up your wallet when a newer RS6 comes out in 8months from now.
