GWM SA says it is to showcase six “diverse and exciting” new vehicles at the 2008 Johannesburg International Motor Show.
Visitors to the show can look forward to seeing the Proteus, Florid, Gwperi, Hover Limo, Cowry and Gwperi Electric for the first time – an extensive range of vehicles which includes a minibus taxi, sporty hatch, limousine, MPV and electric car that displays the manufacturer’s technical prowess.
Says Henri Meistre, GWM SA Managing Director, “To us, our presence at the show is about more than the unveiling of future GWM ranges and derivatives. It signals the progressive direction in which a young brand is headed in the near to medium future – one that is characterised by our drive to provide the South African public with the best value for money, quality vehicles they require.”
“In addition, our presence proves that we are entering new segments of the market, steadily growing our product offering and diversifying the GWM SA brand. And of course, we aim to give everyone something to talk about!”
The Proteus, GWM’s 16-seater minibus taxi, could play a significant role within the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme.
Predominantly aimed at younger buyers like students, the Gwperi is a fun, funky and safe economical hatch with a GW413EF 1.3-litre petrol engine. The Gwperi EV is the electrical, 4-seater derivative of the Gwperi and its completely ‘green’ brother.
Positioned as the step-up vehicle to the Gwperi, the 5-seater sporty Florid is likely to appeal to both sexes in need of a more spacious car that still oozes urban energy.
GWM’s first commercial MPV, the Cowry, is currently under consideration for launch in South Africa. Elegantly styled, but designed with practicality in mind, the 8-seater Cowry is ideal for active and busy South African families.
A first in South Africa and a definite showstopper, the Hover Limo is a factory manufactured and supplied right hand drive limousine with all the luxuries passengers could possibly desire for only R599 990.
