Paddy Lowe, who was the technical brains of Mercedes in his role as executive director, has begun a period of gardening leave and said Tuesday (January 10) he was "looking forward to a new challenge."
In the 54-year-old Lowe's time at Mercedes, the British-based team won both the drivers' and constructors' titles every year from 2014 to 2016.

Toto Wolff, head of motorsport at Mercedes, thanked Lowe for his "contribution to this significant chapter in Mercedes' motorsport history" and said there was "talent in place to continue our success of recent years."
It has been reported in the British media that Lowe is set to join Williams, one of Mercedes' rivals in F1.
