Vettel wants a race, not a record

SAO PAULO, Brazil - Sebastian Vettel is not obsessed about gaining sole possession of the F1 qualifying record on Saturday because it is impossible to set up a car for such a session alone.

Already assured of consecutive World titles, the Red Bull driver can earn a 15th season pole from the 2011 finale in Brazil to break a tie on 14 with Briton Nigel Mansell but he didn't want to dwell on that in a packed Red Bull motorhome while telling reporters "please stop talking about it".

NO RACE SACRIFICE

Vettel said the set-up in qualifying was always designed for the race as well.

"You can't say I will focus on qualifying and sacrifice the race," he said.

Vettel wants to end the season "as good as possible" after going out in the previous race in Abu Dhabi on the first lap with a flat tyre - for which the cause is still not certain.

The team and tyremaker Pirelli have determined that he wasn't to blame for the blowout.
