MELBOURNE, Australia - New Formula 1 team Manor, against all the odds, made it to Australia and both cars have soared through scrutineering for the 2015 season opener.

However, the team might still not be able to race in Melbourne.

Germany's Auto Motor and Sport reports that the problem is simple but significant - software.

POWER UNIT

Correspondent Michael Schmidt wrote: "During administration all computers were cleared of data so they could be sold."

Manor might now have insufficient time to re-install the crucial data, especially given that partner Ferrari was not expecting to supply its 2014 power unit for 2015.

Schmidt added: "Manor may also need to pay some bills before the engine software is even released. Paddock rumours say the team might only be ready to race in Bahrain."
