Multiple World Drivers' champion Michael Schumacher has heaped praise on fellow German Sebastian Vettel for becoming the youngest person to win the same title.
"I congratulated Seb just after the race but I wanted to repeat my congratulations," he said on his website. "His fighting spirit throughout the season and the way he played his trump card in the final race of the season deserves praise.
"I bow to so much talent, persistence and his science of driving. We've been friends for many years and I'm happy for him."
Red Bull's driver Vettel, 23, won his fifth GP of the 2010 season in Abu Dhabi last Sunday to take his first World title by four points from championship favourite Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.
RACING TOGETHER
Schumacher, 41, who came out of retirement to race for Mercedes in 2010 had a disappointing return to F1- ninth in the championship.
Now Vettel and Schumacher will team up next weekend for the Race of Champions in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Vettel has said he has a long way to go to be mentioned in the same breath as Schumacher, despite several comparisons.
"He's a legend and I'm only at the start of my career," the youngster said, adding that he was now intent on defending his title with Red Bull in 2011.
EVENTUAL MOVE
While a Red Bull man through-and-through for now, Vettel spoke about the lure of an eventual move to Ferrari or Mercedes.
"Ferrari and Mercedes represent the history, the present and certainly the future of F1," he said. "Each driver dreams of Ferrari or Mercedes but to drive for these teams depends on a number of factors. Everything has to fall into place, to be a myth isn't sufficient.
