LONDON, England - Russian teenager Daniil Kvyat (19) has qualified for his superlicence and will drive for Toro Rosso in the first practice session ahead of the 2013 US F1 GP.
Toro Rosso said the GP3 champion, who will race for the team in 2014, drove a 2011 car for 102 laps (the equivalent of 402km) at the Misano Circuit in Italy as part of a filming day.
A team statement said: "As planned, Kvyat will join the team in Austin and Sao Paolo where he will drive in the first free practice sessions. In the USA he will take over Jean-Eric Vergne's car, in Brazil he will replace Daniel Ricciardo."
Kvyat is replacing Ricciardo, who is moving to Red Bull, in 2014.
