MANAMA, Bahrain - Force India F1 driver Sergio Perez hopes the Bahrain GP could mark the real start of his Formula 1 season.
Perez had to play spectator at Sepang due to a gearbox problem.
Perez said: "Malaysia was quite a boring race, Mercedes dominated, nothing happening in the midfield."
'RACE RUINED'
Perez has one point to his credit from two races in his first season with Force India thanks to Daniel Ricciardo being disqualified in Melbourne. It is subject to appeal.
Nico Hulkenberg has 18 points after finishing fifth in Malaysia and sixth in Australia.
Perez, whose Australian GP was ruined by a collision with Sauber driver Esteban Gutierrez on the first lap, said he had just had bad luck: "The first two GP's have been really unfortunate for me with too many issues. Now the car has the pace we can have a clear weekend without the issues.
"I think there is good potential in the car. Every weekend we are learning a lot. Once we have no issues and problems we should be really competitive."
