Official Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli has come under fire for its controversial fast-degrading tyres. Tyre-maker Michelin is hoping to make a comeback in F1.
Spanish sports daily AS correspondent Manuel Franco said: "In the Montreal paddock it is being said that Michelin representatives have met with F1 executives to look into returning to the sport."
RETURNING TO THE SPORT
Michelin returned to F1 in 2001 to compete against Bridgestone but fell out with the International Automobile Federation after the 2005 US Grand Prix fiasco at Indianapolis. The company pulled out of F1 in 2006 when the sport moved to a control-tyre formula.
Former F1 supplier Bridgestone joined Korea's Hankook in playing down the prospect of replacing Pirelli in 2014.
