McLaren launched the car which will kick start its campaign for the 2009 title at a press event in the UK.
With a host of rule changes introduced ahead of the 2009 Formula One season, the new McLaren MP4-24 shows a significant departure from its 2008 title-winning predecessor.
The MP4-24 incorporates new bodywork regulations and sports the much praised return of slick tyres. The new car not only has a radical design, but features a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) too.
Recommendations made by an Overtaking Working Group, which met throughout 2007 to address passing in F1, were considered and its influence is most evident around the widened front wing and the more compact rear wing.
MP4-24's first outing will be in testing at Portimao, Portugal, from January 19 to 22.
