Montreal - Crafty strategy enabled McLaren's Lewis Hamilton to best F1's dominant Red Bulls and win the Canadian GP.
Despite being fined during his pole position qualifying effort, Lewis Hamilton drove a crafty race to win the Canadian GP in Montreal on Sunday.
The testing Circuit Gilles Villeneuve hosted Hamilton’s first GP win back in 2007 and despite all teams being short on tyre data after a three year hiatus from the venue, it was McLaren’s impeccable technical staff who adapted best in terms of strategy.
Current world champion, and Hamilton’s team mate, Jenson Button finished second with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso rounding off the podium positions.
Red Bull’s Sebastien Vettel and Mark Webber had a forgettable weekend – finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
The result puts Hamilton in the championship lead, three points clear of Button, with Webber and Alonso next.
