Marussia to miss first-day testing

JEREZ, Spain - Marussia will miss the start of Formula 1 pre-season testing today (Jan 28 2014) because the cars' arrival in Spain has been delayed.

Team principal John Booth said they had yet to leave the factory in Banbury in England due to "a small and frustrating teething problem."

"It makes sense to address this while we still have all of the equipment and technical personnel in one place".

'BIG SWITCH'

Marussia, which has switched to Ferrari engines for 2014 and has Britain's Max Chilton and Frenchman Jules Bianchi as drivers, has its trucks set up in the Jerez paddock along with nine of the other 11 teams.

Lotus will not attend the first test of the new V6 turbo engine and its complex energy recovery systems.

Booth added: "Our aim is to solve this issue as soon as possible and send the MR03 on its way to Jerez."

Marussia finished 10th in the 2013 championship without scoring a point.
