PASTOR MALDONADO: Noisy win in Spain in 2012, quiet wedding in Venezuela at Christmas.

CARACAS, Venezuela - Williams Formula 1 driver driver Pastor Maldonado, 27, has married journalist Gabriele Tarkanyi in Canaima, Venezuela.

International media reports said the event was attended only by the couple's closest family and friends.

NO MS CHAVEZ

Maria Gabriela Chavez, daughter of Hugo Chavez, was to have been a guest but is apparently at her father's side as the Venezuelan president recovers in Cuba after cancer surgery.

Maldonado, sponsored by the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA, won the 2012 F1 GP in Barcelona but finished only 15th in that year's championship points table.
