FINISH It's goodbye from us. Enjoy the break and we will see you again in 2018. Ciao.
FINISH That is that for the 2017 Formula 1 season. We hope you enjoyed it. Congratulations to Bottas on the race win and Hamilton and Mercedes on the Championship victories.
FINISH Some donuts from the Mercedes drivers while Massa pays another emotional tribute to the team.
FINISH Hulkenberg crosses the line in P6 and that means Reanult finish sixth in the Constructors' Championship. Perez, Ocon, Alonso and Massa complete the top 10.
FINISH Raikkonen takes P4 and that also means he finishes ahead of Ricciardo, who had to retire. Verstappen was P5.
FINISH Bottas wins the 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as he leads home a Merc 1-2 with Vettel claiming the final podium spot.
Lap 55 Bottas starts the final lap of the 2017 season. He is heading towards the hat-trick of pole position, race win and fastest lap.
Lap 54 Alonso wants to know what the fastest lap is. It's a 1:40.650 from Bottas. Now you know.
Lap 53 Raikkonen also looks like he has P4 under control as Verstappen is 1.8s adrift.
Lap 52 And now a fastest lap of 1:40.750 from Bottas and he is on course for the weekend hat-trick. It also looks like Hamilton has backed off as the gap is now three seconds.
Lap 51 A fastest lap of 1:41.244 from Vettel, but he is still 20+ seconds behind Hamilton.
Lap 50 Oooh, Hamilton is currently lapping faster than the two Mercs. If only he wasn't 20s behind Bottas and Hamilton.
Lap 50 And Hamilton is now right on Bottas' tail. He had a little sniff and they will soon hit the DRS zone.
Lap 49 Ericsson is given the hurry-up as Gasly is struggling with his tyres and some vibration. They are battling over P17. Ericsson is the only driver on the grid who hasn't scored any points this season. And he won't be scoring any today.
Lap 48 Bottas and Hamilton have caught up with Alonso, who is P9.
Lap 47 Gasly complains about vibration and the reply is sympathetic 'understood, understood'.
Lap 46 Not the best of races to finish the season with.
Lap 45 So then, it looks like Vettel will finish second in the Drivers' standings while Renault will take P6 in the Constructors' standings as Hulkenberg is currently P6 while the STRs are out of the points.
Lap 44 Bottas looks like he has things under control at the front as he is now 1.3s clear of Hamilton, but this has been a dominant display from Merc as Vettel is 20s adrift of Hamilton.
Lap 43 Looks like Verstappen has given up on P4 as he has dropped nearly three seconds off Raikkonen's pace.
Lap 42 Wehrlein ducks on the inside of Magnussen takes P13, but he doesn't hold onto the place as the Haas driver regains the position at the next corner. Hartley has joined this scrap.
Lap 41 Raikkonen moves past the back markers, but Verstappen needs a few more corners to get past Wehrlein and Haas.
Lap 40 The Raikkonen-Verstappen scrap have caught up with some back markers as Magnussen and Wehrlein battle over P13.
Lap 39 Hamilton has found some speed again after his earlier lock-up and off-track moment. He is almost back into DRS range.
Lap 38 Gasly has gone off track again, but he manages to keep it out of the barriers. Well, it is easy to do here as the barriers are far away. The Toro Rosso man is in P16.
Lap 37 Stroll pits for a third time.
Lap 36 The gap between Bottas and Hamilton remains just over one second while Verstappen is now just 1.2s behind Raikkonen in P4.
Lap 35 Stroll has come under pressure from Ericsson. They are battling over P17. The Swede eases past the Canadian.
Lap 34 Hamilton has now dropped 1.6s off Bottas' pace.
Lap 33 Some frustration in the Renault garage as Sainz's left front wasn't fitted on properly and he was slipping and sliding all over the place while exiting the pits.
Lap 32 Sainz has a problem after the pit stop. 'One tyre not is not fitted properly'. He is forced to stop the car.
Lap 32 Ocon and Sainz pit.
Lap 32 Gasly is told 'push now, push now'. He is in 13th place, but he doesn't have much time to push as he pits. Ericsson is also in the pits.
Lap 31 Verstappen has also closed the gap to Raikkonen again as the gap is now 1.2s.
Lap 30 Big lock up from Hamilton and then he runs wide. Toto Wolff is smiling in the Mercedes garage.
Lap 30 Both Bottas and Hamilton have managed to pass the McLaren of Vandoorne.
Lap 29 Hamilton is within DRS zone and it looks like he is going for it.
Lap 29 Bottas and Hamilton have hit the back markers and this could be an opportunity for the latter to jump his team-mate.
Lap 29 Vettel is told 'tyres are healthy, tyres are healthy'.
Lap 28 Hamilton is now within one second of Bottas at the front. The Finn locks up and that allows Hamilton to get even closer.
Lap 27 Ocon, Sainz and Grosjean are the only two drivers who are yet to stop in the P10.
Lap 26 Bottas' lead over Hamilton sits at 1.8s with Vettel another 10s adrift in third place.
Lap 25 Hamilton pits fro the lead and he should rejoin behind his team-mate Bottas. He does indeed come out behind the Finn.
Lap 24 Massa pits and he rejoins just ahead of Alonso, but the Spaniard is in fighting mood and he passes the Williams in the DRS zone. The Williams man tries to fight back, but no way through.
Lap 23 Hamilton has caught up with the back markers. He is 19s clear of his team-mate Bottas, but he still has to stop.
Lap 23 Alonso has made his pit stop, but it was a slow one for the Spaniard and he rejoined in P12.
Lap 22 Ricciardo is looking for directions on how to get back to the pits.
Lap 22 New fastest lap from Hamilton as Bottas pits from the lead.
Lap 21 And Ricciardo has retired as he has parked his car in Sector 2. Hydraulic problem.
Lap 21 Just back to the Ricciardo pit, he had a puncture after brushing the wall and the pit call was a bit late.
Lap 21 Vettel, meanwhile, pits from third place.
Lap 20 Hulkenberg passes Grosjean, but the Haas driver hits back. Does Hulkenberg have a problem? The answer is no as the Renault man hits back to regain the place.
Lap 20 Ricciardo pits fourth, but it almost looks like the pit crew wasn't ready as they will still busy getting the tyres. Anyway, he rejoins in P4.
Lap 19 Bottas' lead over Hamilton is 2.5s while Vettel is now another five seconds adrift.
Lap 19 Massa can see both Alonso and Sainz in his mirrors.
Lap 18 Hulkenberg is next to pit from P5. He takes his five-second penalty and then they change the tyres. Poor stop, but he stays ahead of Perez.
Lap 18 Gasly tells the team 'the car is okay, I lost my rear completely'.
Lap 17 There is a car facing the wrong way. It is Gasly and he gets the car facing the right way again and gets on with it.
Lap 17 Perez pits from seventh.
Lap 16 Verstappen puts his new tyres to good use as he passes Ocon for eighth place. The Force India driver tries to fight back, but he's not close enough.
Lap 16 The Ferrari mechanics are out and it is for Raikkonen. They are clearly responding to Verstappen. Where will the Finn come out as it was a poor stop from Ferrari. Raikkonen rejoins in P7, ahead of the Ocon-Verstappen battle.
Lap 15 Verstappen is the first of the front runners to pit. He puts on the super softs and he rejoins in P9, just behind Ocon.
Lap 15 Alonso is now all over the back of Massa and Sainz is not too far behind.
Lap 14 Alonso has asked the team to keep him up to date with the gap to Massa. It is less than one second at the moment. This is over P10.
Lap 14 Bottas is still maintaining a two-second lead over Hamilton, who in turn is three seconds clear of Vettel.
Lap 13 Vandoorne is the second driver to pit.
Lap 13 The top 12 cars are still running in the same order as they started.
Lap 12 Stroll pits after that bit of action with Grosjean. He changes to super softs that should take him to the end.
Lap 12 Great, great stuff from Grosjean at the second chicane. He goes wheel to wheel with Stroll again and they do touch, but it is Grosjean who muscles his way past the Williams. He was helped by a big lock-up from Stroll, but the Haas driver is up to P13.
Lap 11 Renault are looking comfortable for P6 as Hulkenberg is 4.6s clear of Perez.
Lap 10 Bottas now has a two-second lead over Hamilton who is about three second clear of Vettel.
Lap 10 Grosjean has a look on the outside and then ducks on the inside to take P13, but it is only briefly as Stroll hits back at the next corner to regain the place.
Lap 10 The Stroll-Grosjean battle is the closest on the track. Verstappen is still 1.4s behind Raikkonen.
Lap 9 Stroll is holding onto P13 as Grosjean is not really getting close enough to make it count.
Lap 8 Hartley has moved up to P18 after starting at the back of the grid. He is two places behind his team-mate Gasly.
Lap 7 Red Bull believe Raikkonen's lack of pace is holding up Verstappen, but the Dutchman isn't really close enough to make a move. He is 1.4s adrift of the Ferrari.
Lap 7 In case you didn't know, it's a case of 'as you were for the top 12' as they are all still running in the same places where they started.
Lap 6 Grosjean goes on the inside of Stroll and he passes the Williams to move up to P13, but here comes the Canadian at the second DRS zone and he regains the place.
Lap 5 Fastest lap from Hamilton, but Bottas hits back immediately with a 1:43.011 to stay 1.3s clear of his team-mate.
Lap 4 Hulkenberg has been given a five-second time penalty for gaining an advantage after going off track. Perez won't like that at all. The Renault driver is currently 2.6s ahead of Perez.
Lap 4 The stewards are investigating Hulkenberg for going off track and gaining an advantage.
Lap 3 Alonso initially managed to get ahead of Massa at the start, but the Williams driver has regained P10.
Lap 3 Bottas is now 1.4s clear of Hamilton, who is 1.4s clear of Vettel.
Lap 2 Perez has told Force India that 'Hulkenberg has to give back the position' as he feels the German went off track on the opening lap.
Lap 1 The two Mercs are starting to pull away and Verstappen also seems like he is losing touch with Raikkonen in P5.
Lap 1 Ricciardo is under pressure from Raikkonen, but the Australian holds firm.
Lap 1 The lights go out in Abu Dhabi and away we go. Good start from Hamilton, but he has to settle behind Bottas. Vettel is P3 and he is followed by Ricciardo. Magnussen off track.
17:01 Wehrlein, Ericsson and Hartley are the only drivers starting on the super soft tyres. The rest are on on the ultras.
17:00 The clock hits 5pm local time and Bottas leads the pack away on the formation lap. They are all away without any problems.
16:52 A final kiss from his wife for Felipe as he climbs into his car for his final race in Formula 1.
16:45 Time for the national anthem, but first a fly-past.
16:41 Some info for you, there hasn't been a Safety Car in Abu Dhabi since 2012. I'm going to guess that that record will continue today.
16:37 The cars are now being pushed onto the grid. Alonso doing a trackside interview and he hopes to 'have some fun' with those around him. Massa, Sainz and Vandoorne are all close to him.
16:33 In case you were wondering, Felipe Massa's son is in Abu Dhabi. That child really gets around.
16:30 Aaaaaand for the final time this season, the pit lane is now open. Out they all go.
16:25 Some bits from Horner, he thinks it will be tough to catch Mercedes today, but Red Bull believe they can take some points off Ferrari.
16:20 Any predictions then? Hamilton to allow Bottas to win with the hope of helping the Finn to finish P2 in the Drivers' standings.
16:17 We all know that Hamilton has won the title and Merc the Constructors' title, but one or two things are still up for grabs. Yes, Bottas can still finish second in the standings if he wins and Vettel is P9 or lower. STR, Renault and Haas are squabbling over P6. Toro Rosso have a four-point lead over Renault with Haas another two adrift.
16:13 And now for a rent a quote from 2016 World Champion Nico Rosberg. The German doesn't believe that his former team-mate Hamilton has improved this season, saying "the difference this year was that unlike in 2016, Lewis did practically [claim] all of Mercedes' wins". Fair point? Or is he talking nonsense?
16:10 There is just one grid penalty that you need to know about, but it doesn't actually affect the grid. Brendon Hartley was hit with a 10-place penalty for an MGU-H change, but he qualified P20 so will start, erm, P20.
16:08 Speaking of Massa, this is the Brazilian's final Formula 1 race and he has vowed to 'risk everything' and wants to 'have fun'. Yes, please.
16:06 Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez are on the fourth row with Esteban Ocon and Felipe Massa completing the top 10.
16:05 In case you missed qualy yesterday, it is an all-Mercedes front row with Bottas P1 and Hamilton next to him. Then it's Vettel and Dan Ricciardo followed by Kimi Riakkonen and Max.
16:02 Will Valterri Bottas win from pole? Will Hamilton finish the year on a high with another victory? Or maybe Sebastian Vettel or one of the Red Bull drivers will challenge.
16:00 Greetings, greetings. We trust you are all good. Welcome to our live coverage of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which marks the FINAL race of the 2017 Formula 1 season.
18:03 Hulkenberg, Perez, Ocon and Massa complete the top 10. See you for the race tomorrow! Until then...
18:03 So it's back-to-back poles for Bottas with Hamilton settling for P2. Vettel is third, then comes Ricciardo, Raikkonen and Verstappen completing the top six.
18:02 Ricciardo splits the two Ferraris in P4!
18:01 Vettel improves, but can't get himself on the front row. He will start in P3 tomorrow.
18:00 Bottas doesn't improve...door open for Hamilton...and he goes wide through the final corner!
17:59 Bottas two tenths down through S2. Hamilton is 0.009s up through the middle sector.
17:58 Bottas is slower in the first sector. Hamilton finds an extra tenth.
17:57 All the cars are back out on track for the final qualy showdown of the season. Let's go!
17:56 So it's Bottas, looking for back-to-back pole positions, who is on provisional pole here in Abu Dhabi. Hamilton has 0.172 seconds to find on his team-mate with Ferrari and Red Bull looking out of the equation.
17:55 Verstappen (P5) and Ricciardo (P6) are both 1.4 seconds off the pace. Hulkenberg, Ocon, Perez and Massa complete the top 10 after their first laps.
17:54 Vettel also way off. He is six tenths slower in P3.
17:54 And Hamilton has no answer. He is a tenth down and slots in P2.
17:53 Bottas goes seven tenths quicker!
17:51 Raikkonen sets the benchmark at 1:36.985.
17:48 Raikkonen leads out Hulkenberg and Bottas.
17:45 It's the final battle for pole position in 2017 and Mercedes, more specifically Lewis Hamilton, is the one to beat. Sound familiar?
17:43 Out in Q2: 11 Alonso; 12 Sainz; 13 Vandoorne; 14 Magnussen; 15 Stroll
17:42 At the top of the field. Hamilton doesn't improve but remains the man to beat. Bottas closes the gap to 0.080s.
17:42 And Massa knocks out Alonso!
17:41 Sainz improves but it's only good enough for P11. He's out.
17:40 No improvement from Alonso in P10...
17:36 Gearing up for the final attacks of the session. Sainz said the reason for his poor first lap was he hit a ton of traffic throughout.
17:33 Also at risk of being eliminated: Vandoorne, Magnussen and Sainz.
17:32 Williams looking vulnerable now in Q2. Stroll is propping up the field and Massa can only rise to P12 after his first effort in the session.
17:31 Ricciardo is eight tenths slower in P5. Something amiss with Verstappen who is 1.4 seconds off the pace in P7.
17:30 Vettel is almost three tenths slower in P3, with Raikkonen a further four tenths back in P4.
17:28 Hamilton is a couple of tenths up on Bottas after their first runs of Q2. The benchmark from the Brit is a 1:36.742.
17:25 Green lights for Q2, which is a 15-minute session. Another five drivers will be eliminated here. Bottas and Hamilton among the first to re-emerge.
17:20 Eliminated in Q1: 16 Grosjean; 17 Gasly; 18 Wehrlein; 19 Ericsson; 20 Hartley.
17:20 Stroll improves and pushes Grosjean into the elimination zone.
17:19 Massa goes into the top 10 on his last lap of the session.
17:18 Gasly rises from P20 to P16, so not enough for the Frenchman to reach Q2.
17:17 Hartley is the first victim of the session, only improving to P19.
17:16 The top 11 on the leaderboard are all staying in the pits.
17:15 Grosjean, in P15, improves slightly but is still vulnerable to falling into the drop zone with two minutes of the session remaining.
17;14 Improvement from Verstappen, but not enough to see him budge from P6.
17:13 Everyone back in the pits now for a fresh set of tyres and a little bit more fuel ahead of the final hot laps of Q1.
17:11 Stroll, Wehrlein, Ericsson, Gasly and Hartley are the drivers in danger of being eliminated.
17:10 Improvement from Raikkonen, vast improvement in fact. He is within a tenth off Bottas after a second run on the ultras.
17:09 Vettel is up to P3, four tenths off the two Mercs. Ricciardo now splits the two Ferrari cars after his first attack in P4.
17:08 Bottas finds an extra tenth on Hamilton, who goes quickest through the first sector. However he slips 0.035s behind the Finn as he crosses the line to stay in P2.
17:07 Verstappen slots into P5, but he is nearly a second down on Hamilton, whose going for another attacking lap alongside Bottas.
17:06 Raikkonen negotiates a little bit of traffic on his first attack. He crosses the line in P3 but is only one tenth quicker than his team-mate Vettel. Six tenths off Hamilton out in front.
17:05 Vettel is seven tenths off the pace after his first hot lap. He goes into P3.
17:04 Hamilton lays down the early marker with a 1:37.473. It's two tenths quicker than Bottas in P2.
17:03 Ericsson puts the first timed lap on the board...it's a 1:40.692. Gasly, Wehrlein, and Magnussen all go quicker.
17:02 Vettel the first of the big hitters to make their way onto the track.
17:01 Toro Rosso and Sauber lead the way out of the pit lane, followed by Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean in the Haas cars.
17:00 Here we go then! 18 minutes in this session with five drivers being eliminated ahead of Q2. Let's do this.
16:55 Five minutes to go until Q1. The sun is beginning to set and track temperatures have cooled somewhat to 30 degrees.
16:51 Plenty of activity going on in the garages ahead of the final shoot-out of 2017. Lots of work being carried out on Kimi Raikkonen's car in particular.
16:45 Fortunately there is news of only one grid penalty to bring you ahead of qualifying. Unfortunately it's for Brendon Hartley as he has a 10-place grid drop for a ninth MGU-H fitted to his car this season.
16:37 After Ferrari set the early pace in FP1, Mercedes have taken over at the top and World Champion Lewis Hamilton stretched out a half a second advantage to Sebastian Vettel in FP3 earlier this afternoon. With a much fresher engine packed into his car, Hamilton looks the man to beat under the lights at the Yas Marina circuit.
16:30 Hello and welcome to back to the final qualifying session of the season at Abu Dhabi. Q1 begins in 30 minutes with all times local.
15:01 So that's it for now, join us in two hours for qualifying for the Abu Dhabi GP. Cheers.
15:00 The chequered flag is out and FP3 ends with Lewis Hamilton quickest of all by 0.273s up on Bottas. Raikkonen is third.
14:58 Sainz has made his way into the top ten in ninth place.
14:55 And with that Ricciardo ups his pace and goes fifth, two tenths up on Verstappen.
14:54 His team-mate Ricciardo remains P7 with Alonso splitting the Red Bull drivers.
14:53 Verstappen tells his engineer that his car is very difficult to drive. He's asked if he wants to do another lap but makes it clear that he's had enough.
14:51 Ricciardo's turn to put in a hot lap as Verstappen runs wide and off the circuit at Turn 1. But, with a huge run off there instead of a gravel trap, it is a consequence-free error.
14:48 Vandoorne puts in a hot lap that gets him up to seventh place, make that eighth as Verstappen just went fifth. He is 0.960s down.
14:44 Bottas follows his team-mate up the timesheets as he goes P2, again running it a bit wide in the final corner. He is 0.273s short of Hamilton's best.
14:43 Hamilton is on a hot lap, purple in the middle sector, as he goes top of the timesheets with a 1:37.627. He is half a second quicker than Raikkonen in P2.
14:42 Asked if he wants another run, Alonso responds by saying he has a "strange feeling" but he's told it could be the wind.
14:40 Another run from Alonso and it is P6 for the Spaniard.
14:39 New ultras and a moment on the astroturf almost put Bottas into the wall. The lads in the Mercedes garage give a shake of the hand at that.
14:37 New P1 as Raikkonen hits the front with a 1:38.157.
14:36 Vettel has left the pits on a fresh set of ultras which puts him up to P2, 0.133s down on Hamilton's best.
14:32 Massa went P8 on his first flying lap while STroll is down in 20th place as his lap was ruined by the VSC.
14:29 Only Stroll and Massa yet to set times and with that the rookie does a 1.... nope he has to slow down as there is an umbrella sitting in the middle of the chicane. The VSC is out.
14:26 Ricciardo goes fifth and Verstappen sixth as Alonso is bumped down to seventh place.
14:25 Hamilton and Vettel at it again as the Brit reports that Vettel "went very wide" at Turn 1. He adds "I don't know if that's allowed."
14:24 Grosjean pushes hard, perhaps a bit too hard, and almost gets himself into trouble but he's able to avoid the walls.
14:22 Ricciardo enters the fray followed by Verstappen. Red Bull appear to once again be limiting their mileage in light of Renault's recent reliability woes.
14:21 Bottas goes quickest, Hamilton goes quickest - new P1 time is a 1:38.159.
14:20 Traffic and tempers as Perez gets in Alonso's way. The Force India driver looks as if he was trying to give himself space which held up Alonso, who didn't look very impressed. And more traffic as Hartley leaves the pits almost into Alonso's path.
14:18 Vettel puts in another hot lap but stays in third place, now 0.361s off the pace.
14:17 A lock up from Bottas as he goes third fastest, making that fourth as Hamilton has just popped in the fastest time - a 1:38.702.
14:15 Hartley is three seconds off the pace as he is warned by Toro Rosso that the wind is beginning to pick up quite a bit.
14;14 Vettel is the next to post a time as he goes purple in the middle sector. A 1:39.152 as he lines up behind Raikkonen.
14:12 P1 for Raikkonen with a 1:38.999 despite a lock up into the hairpin at Turn 7.
14:11 They have pitted and out come Vettel, Raikkonen and Hartley, all running new ultras.
14:07 Only Hulkenberg and Alonso are on the track at the moment.
14:05 First time on the board as Vandoorne does a 1:41.103 on the ultras.
14:04 It doesn't look as if Perez will be heading out any time soon as he ambles on over to the Force India garage. Ocon is also have a slow start as he's chatting with his mechanics at the back of the garage.
14:03 There was an amusing moment between Grosjean and Ricciardo in FP2 at the Red Bull driver gave the Haas man the middle finger salute after he blocked him. Ricciardo was unrepentant while Grosjean replied with a "didn't see it, was too dark."
14:01 Vettel is the first man out as he drops down into the tunnel ahead of Pascal Wehrlein, Bottas and Marcus Ericsson. Raikkonen, Kevin Magnussen and Pierre Gasly follow them out ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne and Romain Grosjean.
14:00 Green light and off we go for the final hour of practice for 2017...
13:54 Blue skies overhead and a rather blustering wind, which could cause a bit of a dust problem for the drivers. Track temperature is up to 43'C.
13:47 So far the weekend's only penalty belongs to Brendon Harltey who has a 10-place engine element penalty, his fourth in four races.
13:42 Hamilton and Vettel are tied on three Abu Dhabi wins apiece but while Mercedes have won the last three years running, Ferrari have never won at the Yas Marina circuit.
13:36 Lewis Hamilton set the pace on Friday night as his 1:37.877 was 0.149s up on Sebastian Vettel's best. The Ferrari driver topped FP1. Daniel Ricciardo was third ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen while Sergio Perez, Esteban Ocon, Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso completed the top ten.
13:30 Welcome back to the Yas Marina circuit for the third and final practice of the Abu Dhabi GP weekend - and this season's final practice hour. All times are local.
18:30 There is the checkered flag with Hamilton, Vettel and Ricciardo completing the top three. Join us again tomorrow for FP3 and the all-important qualifying session. Cheers!
18:25 FP2 winding down now with five minutes of the session remaining.
18:23 Verstappen takes a little too much speed through Turn 20 and goes off on exit. Nothing too major.
18:20 Almost a coming together between Stroll and Ricciardo just before the start of the long, long straight. Trouble seems to be finding the Aussie this evening!
18:15 Bottas has also switched to the supersofts now and is warned that overheating is a bit more of a problem on these tyres.
18:09 A spin on entry into Turn 1 for Hartley who kisses the tyre wall and avoids any major damage. Back into the pits he goes.
18:00 Hamilton has had to abort his race sim programme on the ultras a little earlier than expected after locking up at Turn 17 and flat-spotting his tyres. He makes an early switch back to the supersofts.
17:53 Perez does move up to P7, though, 0.010 seconds quicker than his team-mate Ocon in P8.
17:50 We're beyond the halfway point of FP2 and the first set of tyres have been handed back in. Attention now turns to the race simulation programmes so don't expect too much movement on the leaderboards now.
17:45 Ricciardo is up to P3 now, three tenths away from Hamilton who is still out in front.
17:41 Ricciardo does improve again but stays fifth. He is now just 0.009s away from Bottas in P4, though.
17:37 Grosjean is the latest to go off at Turn 20 and is complaining about the car...again. Seconds earlier he had been shown the middle finger by Ricciardo for ruining his hot lap.
17:35 Raikkonen is not troubling the top two with his first ultrasoft lap. He is four tenths off the pace in P3. Bottas is two tenths further back in P4.
17:33 Ricciardo's first hot lap on the ultras is disrupted by Romain Grosjean who is caught idling as he sets up for his latest attack. More improvement to come from the Aussie who stays in P5.
17:31 What have Vettel and Hamilton got in store on their latest hot laps? They exchange track records as Hamilton finds an extra tenth and becomes the first driver to drop into the 1:37 region.
17:29 Hulkenberg climbs to within a second of Bottas after also switching to the ultras. He is up to P4 for now.
17:27 Bottas is the first of the top six back out from the pits. He has ditched the supersofts for the quickest ultrasofts and shoots up to P1 with a 1:38.609.
17:26 Seconds out...round two. With just over an hour of the session remaining, it's time for some for some qualifying sim runs.
17:20 Most of the drivers are back in the pits after their first runs of the session. Only four cars out there at the moment with Gasly going up to P9 with a 1:40.694.
17:16 Yellows in the final sector as the rear of Vandoorne's car snaps away from him at Turn 20. He spins off track and, after a brief delay, manages to get the MCL32 back going again.
17:15 Ricciardo leapfrogs Bottas into P2, finding another four tenths on his latest hot lap.
17:13 Bottas, Ricciardo, Vettel and Raikkonen are all eight tenths behind Hamilton, in fact. The top 5 all on supersoft tyres.
17:13 Hamilton drops into the 1:38 range to stretch his advantage back out to eight tenths.
17:12 A first effort from Ricciardo sees him narrow the gap to Hamilton to just 0.040s. He goes P2 with team-mate Verstappen down in P8, complaining about oversteer.
17:11 Stroll runs wide very wide through Turn 20 as he wrestles with his seemingly unbalanced Williams. He just about keeps it away from the barriers.
17:10 Raikkonen improves by three tenths, but he is pipped to P1 by Hamilton who has a clean lap this time and sets the benchmark at 1:39.720.
17:08 Vandoorne matches Raikkonen's best time, but the McLaren man is on the ultrasofts. Raikkonen is on the supers.
17:07 Bottas slots into P2 and is within two tenths of early leader Raikkonen. A lock-up from Hamilton puts an abrupt end to his first hot lap attempt.
17:05 First timed laps from the Ferrari duo and Raikkonen is half second quicker than Vettel.
17:03 As Alonso ducks into the pits again, Magnussen puts the first timed lap on the board with a 1:42.4. Wehrlein, Ericsson, Bottas, Ocon, Hamilton, Hartley, Hulkenberg and Sainz are all out on track now.
17:02 FP1 leader Vettel starts his out-lap next, with team-mate Raikkonen not too far behind.
17:01 Magnussen and Grosjean follow next.
17:00 Green light. Straight out of the blocks is one Fernando Alonso.
16:55 Kevin Magnussen and Esteban Ocon are back for FP2 after they made way for reserve drivers Antonio Giovinazzi and George Russell at Haas and Force India respectively.
16:52 In a relatively low-key session with a few minor spins to speak of, it then emerged that Brendon Hartley has more grid penalties to contend with after his car was fitted with a ninth MGU-H of the season. As it stands, he has a 10-place grid drop.
16:45 Plans for 2018 were also being put into practice as Ferrari tested out a new diffuser and Mercedes ran a new front wing.
16:38 There wasn't much to choose from the leading trio in FP1, with Vettel, Hamilton and Verstappen all separated by a tenth at the top of the standings.
16:30 Hello and welcome back to Abu Dhabi for FP2. The darkness has descended and the temperature has dropped a little, so conditions are now much more representative of what is to come in Sunday's race. The session begins in 30 minutes with all times local.
14:31 Vettel finishes quickest of all ahead of Hamilton and Vettel with Hartley at the bottom of the timesheets. Please join us in two hours for FP2. Cheers
14:30 The chequered flag is out on FP1...
14:29 Bottas is putting in a few late laps with Halo.
14:28 Russell is on course to finish this session in 11th place, nine-tenths down on regular Force India driver Perez,
14:23 Ricciardo is running down in 10th place but no concerns from Red Bull as they are running their own programme.
14:21 Grosjean has a spin and rear ends the barrier with his Haas... no notable damage to the car and he returns to the pits.
14:18 Stroll has moved off the bottom of the timesheets, climbing to 17th with a 1:41.8.
14:15 Vettel's time means he is 0.120s up on Hamilton with Verstappen a further 0.028s down.
14:11 New P1 as Vettel ups his pace to a 1:39.006.
14:09 Raikkonen stays fifth behind Vettel.
14:07 Vettel moves up to fourth place as Raikkonen leaves the pits. Oh, we have a time for Alonso as hes goes seventh fastest in his Honda-powered McLaren.
14:02 New ultras for Vettel as he returns to the action while Alonso is back out for lap number 10.
13:59 A spin for Hulkenberg as he loses the back end of his Renault.
13:58 An epic lap from Verstappen as he goes second quickest, a mere 0.028s down on Hamilton's best.
13:57 Sainz is out for what will be his final run of FP1 as Renault have scheduled an engine change.
13:56 A moment for Gasly as he gets it wrong at that top of the hill and plays in the marbles.
13:53 Giovinazzi is up to 13th place while Wehrlein goes 11th on the ultrasoft tyres.
13:51 McLaren insist there is nothing to worry about with Alonso, reporting: "His crew have completed four setup changes and five runs in 40 minutes. Good effort."
13:49 Hamilton returns to the track after a brief trip to the pits.
13:45 Clearly happy with his lap, Hamilton heads back into the pits.
13:44 Hamilton is on a hot lap, very hot, as he goes purple and P1 with a 1:39.126. Bottas is second, 0.6s off the pace.
13:41 Hamilton heads out on a fresh set of ultras along with Bottas as Mercedes' rivals head back to the pits to hand back a set of Pirellis.
13:39 Vettel improves his time but remains second fastest behind Raikkonen.
13:38 Alonso is onto lap 8 and still without a time.
13:35 Verstappen is not happy with his RB13 and reports that he does "not have any feeling".
13:34 Ferrari 1-2 as Vettel goes second but he is 0.8s down on Raikkonen.
13:32 Another new hot lap from Raikkonen and he is down to a 1:39.841.
13:27 Raikkonen is leading the way on a 1:40.6 on the ultras ahead of Ricciardo while Hamilton has fallen to third place.
13:26 A lock up for Massa just moments after he climbed to fourth place, 1.08s off the pace on the ultras.
13:22 And here comes Raikkonen, now without the sensors, as more drivers venture out and begin their day's programme.
13:21 Ricciardo is up to second on the ultrasoft tyres, 0.0446s off the pace.
13:25 Several times are running updates here today with Mercedes using a new front wing.
13:19 Not exactly an action-packed session just yet as the heat of this afternoon means this session counts for very little for qualifying and the race.
13:16 Hamilton pits after seven laps while Alonso, in his final race weekend with Honda power, returns to the pits after three installation laps without a time.
13:15 Hamilton is down to 1:41.1 as he continues to lap on the soft tyres.
13:13 Lance Stroll makes his mark with a 1:44.7 on the soft tyres while Fernando Alonso and Russell are also putting in the laps.
13:10 While the Mercedes drivers lay down the laps, Max Verstappen is in the back of the garage having a laugh with Helmut Marko.
13:06 A 1:41.6 for Hamilton to get the ball rolling while Bottas is 1.3s off the pace.
13:04 Hamilton leaves the pits sporting a new gold helmet as he acknowledges his 2017 success.
13:02 Kimi Raikkonen heads out with a sensor or 20 on the back of his Ferrari as the Scuderia trial a new diffuser here in Abu Dhabi.
13:01 Brendon Hartley leads the field out ahead of Nico Hulkenberg and Ericsson as the drivers put in their installation laps.
13:00 The light goes green and FP1 is underway in Abu Dhabi...
12:55 Five minutes to the start...
12:52 It is warm and dry is Abu Dhabi with the track temperature up to a rather warm 42'C.
12:44 It's Friday FP1 which means it is time for F1's reserve drivers with Antonio Giovinazzi in at Haas and George Russell driving for Force India.
12:39 Although the World title has already been decided there is still plenty to play for this weekend as Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas battle for the runner-up position and Toro Rosso, Renault and Haas are separated by just six points in the Constructors' Championship - that's the one that pays, and millions per position.
12:35 Formula 1 bids farewell to 2017 this weekend while it is also a goodbye to Felipe Massa and perhaps Marcus Ericsson and Pascal Wehrlein, who have yet to secure seats for 2018.
12:30 Welcome to the Yas Marina circuit for the start of the Abu Dhabi season finale. This is first practice, and all times are local.
