14:39 Rosberg back in at the garage. Hamilton too.
14:37 Lot's of drivers trying their luck as they go off the track over the kerbs. They better be careful!
14:36 Wehrlein gets clocked in at 340km/h.
14:35 Rosberg goes fastest 1:15.614! Hamiton currently in P2. Verstappen in third.
14:34 Vettel currently out of the top ten. All the way down in P13.
14:32 Raikkonen goes fastest! A quick time of 1:16.512.
14:30 yup, most of the grid now making the change to supersofts.
14:29 As expected at the Hockenheimring. The crowd are absolutely buzzing.
14:27 Hulkenberg joins Haryanto out there. Also on supersofts.
14:25 The Indonesian out there on supersofts.
14:24 Finally. Haryanto is back at it again. He likes getting out first it seems.
14:22 Actually, everyone is in the pits now. No one is out on the track.
14:21 Ricciardo also back in but he looks quite relaxed.
14:19 Hulkenberg back in the garage. Still in his car though so he's probably gonna go back out soon.
14:18 Couple of slips and slides there from Verstappen.
14:18 Mercedes warns Hamilton not too go over the kerbs.
14:17 And Hamilton goes fastest with a 1:17.067. No surprise there.
14:16 Everyone on the grid has now set a lap time. No flying lap from Hamilton yet though.
14:15 Rosberg now in third position behind the two Red Bull's.
14:14 Verstappen now goes fastest! With a 1:17.978. His teammate takes P1 from him though with a 1:17.716.
14:11 Whoops! Hamilton just knocked over a camera guy coming out the pits. Luckily he's fine though. Nothing serious.
14:10 "Information from race control, they are now going to be strict in applying track limits," Raikkonen is told by Ferrari on the team radio.
14:09 It's a German 1-2!
14:09 Woah! Hulkenberg goes fastest! 1:18.363
14:08 Stoffel Vandoorne seen hovering around the pitlane. He must be eager to get his career going. Where do you think he will drive next year if not McLaren?
14:07 Raikkonen just a fraction slower than him. How long will Scuderia be at the front though with Red Bull and Mercedes yet to make an entry.
14:07 Vettel sets fastest time of 1:18.433.
14:05 Nasr sets a first time of 1:21.155
14:04 Vettel the first of the title contenders to get out there on the Hockenheimring.
14:02 Soft compound is the preferred choice during these opening laps.
14:01 Rio Haryanto leads the way! The two Haas cars follow him but wait abit to have some space.
14:00 Green light! FP2 is a go!
13:59 Rosberg, Vettel and Wehrlein will surely be endeared by their home fans.
13:58 This track is quite power dependent. Lot's of straights here!
13:57 The weather has also taken a nice turn! Sunshine expected.
13:54 Ferrari were quicker than Red Bull but we all know the Austrian team love a surprise.
13:50 McLaren were actually quite quick during the morning session, being the fourth best team.
13:45 Jenson Button did the least amount of laps during FP1. How busy do you think he will be during the second session?
13:42 Back to FP2, it will be interesting to see what sort data teams will be looking to collect during today's final practice session.
13:40 The decision after a discussion was held in the wake of Rosberg's qualifying lap at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
13:36 BREAKING: FIA race director Charlie Whiting has announced that qualifying will be red-flagged for double yellow flags : '"The procedure now will be to simply red flag it whenever there is a double-waved yellow flag. There will be no discussion."
13:34 Also worth noting that the softest option tyres are believed to be worth around a second per lap.
13:32 Just a recap of the action that took place in FP1: Nico Rosberg, the defending German GP winner, was back up into P1 in Fridays opening practice at the Hockenheimring.
13:30 Welcome back F1 fans! We're back at it again for another 90 minute session of practice for the German Grand Prix!
11:32 Please join us again in two hours for the build-up to FP2. Cheers.
11:31 Rosberg ends FP1 fastest of all, 0.326s up on Hamilton while Vettel is third.
11:30 The chequered flag is out and FP1 is over.
11:27 Grosjean has an oft in the Mercedes Arena, taking a trip across the gravel.
11:24 Alonso has a complaint about the Ferraris. He said: "They need to make a new circuit for the Ferraris so that they can run alone."
11:23 Button is reporting that his McLaren is getting rather "snappy".
11:22 Force India appear to be off the boil at present with Hulkenberg 15th to Perez's 16th. The team, though, does sometimes take their time getting up to speed.
11:18 It is also a good showing for McLaren with Alonso seventh and Button eighth fastest.
11:15 Both Toro Rossos are now inside the top ten as Sainz has gone P10. He is 0.3s slower than his team-mate.
11:12 Great lap from Kvyat puts him up into ninth place in his Toro Rosso. He has rubbished rumours that he will be replaced at the end of this season.
11:11 Wehrlein, last on the timesheet, is 4.4s off the pace.
11:09 Only six drivers are two seconds within Rosberg's P1 time, Hamilton, Vettel, Verstappen, Ricciardo and Alonso.
11:06 Verstappen moves up to fourth place, 1.4s down.
11:03 Button reports "really strange braking into Turn 6" and seems to be really unhappy with his braking energy.
11:02 Massa slots in 10th place, 2.8s off the pace, and Verstappen is P11, 0.002s slower.
10:59 Vettel improves to 1:16.7.
10:57 Alonso has jumped up to fourth place on his supersofts, which puts him half a second up on Raikkonen's best.

10:51 Hamilton joins his action out on track, also swapping the softs for supersofts.
10:50 Another German out on track as Wehrlein joins the action.
10:49 It is a 1:15.517, which is a whopping 1.892s up on Vettel's best on the same rubber.
10:47 Rosberg breaks the silence as he heads out on a new set of supersoft tyres.
10:44 Still no takers as silence reigns.
10:40 Top ten: Rosberg, Vettel, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Alonso, Verstappen, Sainz, Button and Bottas.
10:39 The drivers are heading back into the pits to return their first set of tyres to Pirelli.
10:36 Haas, Sauber, Renault and Manor are making up the final eight places on the timesheet.
10:35 Bottas has a spin at the hairpin but is able to continue on his way.
10:33 Alonso, who is out on the supersofts, has moved up to sixth place while Verstappen, on the softs, improves to seventh.
10:28 Rosberg ups his pace to a 1:17.030. That means he is now 0.379s up on Vettel's best.
10:24 Perhaps a bit of a concern for Ferrari as Rosberg has just beaten their drivers with a 1:17.1, and he's on the soft tyres.
10:23 A 1:17.4 for Vettel as he takes over at the front. However, both Ferraris are lapping on the supersoft tyres whereas the Mercedes drivers and Ricciardo are on the softs.
10:20 Ricciardo takes over at the front, lowering the benchmark, only for Raikkonen to come back with a 1:17.627. That is 0.071s up on Ricciardo's best.
10:19 P1 for Raikkonen as he crosses the line with a 1:17.863.
10:17 Kimi Raikkonen, Valtteri Bottas and Pascal Wehrlein have joined the action out on track.
10:16 Hamilton completes his first flying lap and it is a 1:17.947.
10:13 Ricciardo goes second quickest, 0.3s off Alonso's pace, and here comes Hamilton.
10:11 Magnussen pitted after one lap, and now Ricciardo and Rio Haryanto are out. And it is a 1:19.4 from Verstappen.
10:08 Kevin Magnussen breaks the silence as he heads out in his RS16. And here comes Verstappen for his first lap of the morning.
10:05 Alonso stays out to set a time and it is a 1:18.8 for the McLaren driver.
10:04 Max Verstappen is the only driver who has not yet put in a lap.
10:03 Esteban Ocon is the other test driver in action, as he has taken Jolyon Palmer's Renault for FP1.
10:01 Charles Leclerc leads out the field as he is back in action for Haas, taking Esteban Gutierrez's car for this session.
10:00 The pit lane is green-lighted and FP1 begins.
09:57 By the way, today is Fernando Alonso's birthday and this weekend marks Daniel Ricciardo's 100th GP.
09:55 Five minutes to the start and the air temperature is 22'C, the track is up to 31'C.
09:49 Thursday's Strategy Group also voted no to Halo, at least for 2017. It could yet be introduced the following season but the teams, and Bernie Ecclestone, want more development and more testing.
09:44 They are also lightening up on track limits as it was pointed out that it is not that easy to prove that a driver received an advantage from running wide.
09:42 The big news this weekend is that the FIA is adopting a "liberal approach" to the radio communication ban after yet more criticism in Hungary. At the request of the Teams and Commercial Rights Holder, the FIA has agreed to adopt a more liberal approach to the interpretation of Article 27.1 (that a driver must drive the car alone and unaided), read the FIA statement. With the exception of the period between the start of the formation lap and the start of the race, there will be no limitations on messages teams send to their drivers either by radio or pit board."
09:36 The Mercedes team-mates arrived in Hockenheim separated by just six points in the Drivers' standings. But, for the first time this season, that advantage is in Hamilton's favour after his victory in Hungary.
09:30 Formula 1 is back at the Hockenheimring for the first time in two years as the German GP returns to the Formula 1 calendar. Nico Rosberg is the defending champ but it is his team-mate Lewis Hamilton who is on a roll and this weekend promises to be a thrilling battle between the Mercedes drivers.
