Lauda: Best of 5 could win Oz

MELBOURNE, Australia - Triple World Drivers' champion Niki Lauda thinks one of "at least five teams" could win the 2013 season-opening Australian F1 GP.

Lauda said: "The best structured ones (could win); Red Bull, us (Mercedes), Ferrari, McLaren and Lotus.

"After what we saw in winter testing, I would say that any of them could win at Albert Park."

'THERE IS NO PANIC'

Lauda, whiile still a TV commentator for German television, is not only a new shareholder of the Mercedes team but also is chairman.

Many believe Red Bull to be the 2013 team favourite and Sebastian Vettel was quicker than the two Ferraris in both practice sessions.  There have been suggestions the reigning World champion is struggling.

Red Bull's Helmut Marko said: "There is no panic. A place on the podium in Melbourne would be a good result.  The field is much closer together."

The two Ferraris were just off Vettel's pace early on Friday but test driver Marc Gene said : "I think Vettel and Red Bull will be the ones to beat in the first races."
