LONDON, England - The Caterham Formula 1 team has dropped Italian Jarno Trulli and replaced him with Russian driver Vitaly Petrov.
The move, announced in a statement from the Malaysian-owned team, means the season will start in Australia next month without an Italian driver for the first time since 1970.
ZERO POINTS
It also marked a return for Russia's first F1 driver who was dropped by Renault, now Lotus, at the end of the 2011 season.
Caterham, formerly Team Lotus, has scored zero for the previous two seasons but has high hopes for 2012. Well, it can't get any worse...
Its other driver is Finland's Heikki Kovalainen, recently returned to F1 from the wilds of the World Rally championship.
