On Tuesday (April 8) Alonso managed 69 laps but on Wednesday he only completed 12. Ferrari said he was "called to a halt when the chassis was found to be damaged".
Ferrari added that it "decided to bring the test to a premature end as a precautionary measure".
Reports said it was Kimi Raikkonen's race chassis that was being used in testing but it was damaged when Raikkonen was launched over the kerbs during practice on April 4.
