Ferrari dominates German GP

2012-07-22 15:39

Hockenheim, Germany - Ferrari's Fernando Alonso has further extended his 2012 Formula 1 championship lead with another fantastic win from pole at the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim.

The weather finally let up after a rain-soaked weekend to allow Alonso to become the first driver to earn three race wins in 2012 after winning in Malaysia and Valencia.

The Ferrari ace led from pole and held on to his lead despite dogged pursuit from rivals Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and McLaren's Jenson Button who finished second and third respectively.

The Ferrari driver now has 154 points which leaves him well ahead of  Red Bull's Mark Webber (120 points) after finishing eighth.

Button's podium finish was a boost for him and McLaren after they struggled in recent outings but it was soured for the team by Lewis Hamilton suffering a puncture early in his 100th race and having to retire.

Vettel's overtaking move on Button on the penultimate lap is under investigation. Vettel, if the stewards uphold his second place, has 118 points after 10 of the season's 20 races.

Alonso did well but whats going on with Massa? I Think Ferrari should re- consider.

Who writes these articles? How come the reporter's name is not included? The headline should read Alonso dominates, not Ferrari. It will be Ferrai if they finished 1 & 2. Idiot. Well done Alonso! Great race.
