MARANELLO, Italy - Ferrari's president, Luca di Montezemolo, has issued an ultimatum to the company's Formula 1 team to improve its performance.
He said on the team's website "this cannot and must not be the team's level". He was referring to its disappointing start to the 2011 season.
Ferrari's performance has worsened in each of the three races of 2011 but its best result was from the season-opener in Australia - Fernando Alonso finished fourth. Team mate Felipe Massa was fifth in Malaysia and Massa sixth in China on Sunday.
Montezemolo added that he expected "our engineers to act with determination and know-how" and "improve the performance of the car in a short time".
The next race will be the Turkish GP on May 8.
