Team by team analysis of Sunday's British Grand Prix.

McLaren: Fernando Alonso 2, Lewis Hamilton 3

Alonso started third and followed up with a faultless drive, though the car was no match for Raikkonen's Ferrari. Hamilton led for 15 laps from pole but tyre wear, a pit-stop error, back-marker traffic and an unsatisfactory set-up meant he could never challenge for victory before his home fans.

Ferrari: Kimi Raikkonen 1, Felipe Massa 5

Raikkonen's third win of the season, and second in a row. He also set the fastest lap. Massa finished a creditable fifth after his car stalled on the grid and he was hauled back for a pit lane start.

BMW Sauber: Robert Kubica 4, Nick Heidfeld 6

Kubica fully deserved his points for holding off Massa's sustained 13-lap attack in the closing stages to secure a second consecutive fourth-place finish. Heidfeld collected three points for a solid drive after moving up from ninth place.

Renault: Heikki Kovalainen 7, Giancarlo Fisichella 8

For the fourth time this year, Kovalainen finished ahead of his better-known team mate in his rookie season, though both men struggled with tyre performance. Fisichella was glad just to get the car home after losing grip following a switch to soft tyres.

Williams: Nico Rosberg 12, Alex Wurz 13

Both men finished outside the points, with Rosberg saying he was pushed onto the grass by David Coulthard. Wurz started and finished in 13th place, regretting his tyre option and the decision to go for a heavy fuel load.

Toyota: Jarno Trulli retired, Ralf Schumacher retired

A miserable day for the team, with Schumacher forced out after 22 laps following a problem with his left front wheel, having qualified in sixth. Trulli managed 43 laps before being called in with a longstanding problem.

Red Bull: David Coulthard 11, Mark Webber retired

Not helped by the contact with Rosberg, Coulthard's car was suffering from oversteer and the Briton was unable to get the right balance in his home race. Webber hit a big problem with the car's hydraulics as he headed into the Becketts curve.

Super Aguri: Takuma Sato 14, Anthony Davidson retired

Sato managed to finish after battling oversteer following a chassis switch. Davidson was forced to retire from his first British GP after problems with the rear end.

Honda: Rubens Barrichello 9, Jenson Button 10

Both drivers made up good ground but the one-stop pit strategy at Silverstone failed to deliver points after Barrichello moved up from 14th and Button from 18th on the grid.

Toro Rosso: Tonio Liuzzi retired, Scott Speed retired

Liuzzi made it to 53 of the 59 laps before being forced out with a gearbox failure. Speed's race ended after a collision with Wurz as they tangled in a corner.

Spyker: Adrian Sutil retired, Christijan Albers 15

Albers was the last man home, but at least the Dutchman made it to the end. Sutil retired with engine trouble after 17 laps.
