F1 analysis: Brazilian Grand Prix

Sao Paulo - Team by team analysis of Sunday's season-ending Brazilian F1 Grand Prix (listed in championship order)

Ferrari: (Felipe Massa 1, Kimi Raikkonen 3)

Massa collected his sixth win of the season and 11th of his career but missed out on the title by a single point. Ferrari won a record 16th constructors' crown, and eighth in 10 years. Raikkonen grabbed third place overall.

Mclaren: (Lewis Hamilton 5, Heikki Kovalainen 7)

Hamilton became Formula One's youngest champion at 23, Britain's first since 1996 and McLaren's first since 1999, after seizing fifth place on the last lap.

BMW: (Nick Heidfeld 10, Robert Kubica 11)

BMW failed to score a point for the first time in 35 races. Kubica made a mistake in starting on dry tyres and finished fourth in the championship after challenging for the title earlier in the season.

Renault: (Fernando Alonso 2, Nelson Piquet retired)

Alonso ended the season on a high, having scored more points than any driver in the final eight races. Piquet retired after a collision on the first lap.

Toyota: (Timo Glock 6, Jarno Trulli 8)

Glock started 10th on a one stop strategy and was fourth on the final lap before taking a gamble and staying out on dry tyres when others pitted for wets. Trulli started second and briefly led before dropping down the order.

Toro Rosso: (Sebastian Vettel 4, Sebastien Bourdais 14) Vettel almost scuppered Hamilton's title by overtaking him two laps from the end. Bourdais clashed with Trulli early on, losing six places after being pushed wide onto the grass.

Red Bull: (Mark Webber 9, David Coulthard retired) Coulthard's final race in Formula One lasted less than a lap after he collided with Williams's Kazuki Nakajima into turn two. Webber was fuelled long at the first stop but had to come in again to change tyres.

Williams: (Nico Rosberg 12, Kazuki Nakajima 17) Both Williams drivers were caught in the first corner incident with Coulthard with Nakajima struggling with a damaged car from then on. Rosberg started 18th.

Honda: (Jenson Button 13, Rubens Barrichello 15) Both drivers took a gamble and switched to extreme wets near the end, with Barrichello having to pit again after his tyres overheated.

Force India: (Adrian Sutil 16, Giancarlo Fisichella 18)

Fisichella ran in the points until his first stop on lap 38. The Italian then suffered a clutch problem and stalled twice in the pits. Both drivers fitted extreme wets at the end in the mistaken expectation of heavier rain.
