F1 analysis: Belgian Grand Prix

Spa-Francorchamps - Team by team analysis of Sunday's Belgian F1 Grand Prix (listed in current championship order):

Brawn GP: (Rubens Barrichello 7, Jenson Button retired)

Button crashed on the first lap after qualifying 14th, his worst performance of the season and ending his status as sole driver to have scored in every race. Barrichello made a terrible start and had to fight from last at the first corner. The Brazilian is 16 points behind Button with five races remaining.

Red Bull: (Sebastian Vettel 3, Mark Webber 9)

Vettel moved up to third overall, 19 points adrift of Button. He also set the fastest lap. Webber's race was wrecked by a drive-through penalty after being released by the team in front of BMW's Nick Heidfeld.

Ferrari: (Kimi Raikkonen 1, Luca Badoer 14)

Raikkonen's 18th career win, first in 26 races and Ferrari's first of the season. It was also his fourth Belgian GP win in five years. Badoer, standing in for injured Felipe Massa, qualified last and was the last car running on track for the second race in a row. His future in the race seat looks bleak.

McLaren: (Heikki Kovalainen 6, Lewis Hamilton retired)

Hamilton crashed out with Button on the first lap, hit at the first corner and then shunted out at the third. Kovalainen was on a one-stop strategy after starting 15th.

Toyota: (Timo Glock 10, Jarno Trulli retired)

A dismal day for Toyota after having Trulli on the front row. The Italian made contact with Heidfeld's BMW at the first corner and had to pit for a replacement front wing. He then rejoined at the back under the safety car. Trulli finally retired with a brake problem. Glock was slowed by a fuel rig glitch at his first stop.

Williams: (Nico Rosberg 8, Kazuki Nakajima 13)

Rosberg started 10th but scored for the eighth race in a row. Nakajima, who qualified 18th, has yet to take a point this season.

BMW: (Robert Kubica 4, Nick Heidfeld 5)

BMW doubled their points tally for the year at one stroke. Kubica was fifth at the start, and second by the first corner. Heidfeld started third and went over the gravel at turn five on the opening lap.

Renault: (Fernando Alonso and Romain Grosjean retired)

Alonso was retired with a tyre problem, the team taking no chances after almost being suspended for the previous race in Valencia for a similar issue. The Spaniard had been third before coming in for what would have been his sole pitstop. Grosjean collided with Button on lap one.

Force India: (Giancarlo Fisichella 2, Adrian Sutil 11)

Fisichella gave the team their first ever points and podium after a first pole. Force India overtake Toro Rosso in the standings. The Italian felt he could have won. Sutil started 11th but had to pit for a new front wing after a first lap incident, forcing a change of strategy.

Toro Rosso: (Sebastien Buemi 12, Jaime Alguersuari retired)

Alguersuari crashed out at turn two after colliding with Hamilton.
