According to
Auto Bild the 2005 Opel Manta will be based on the
next generation Astra, which will debut in the second half of next year.
The Manta will be a 2+2 seater and a cabriolet version will also go on sale. It is expected that the Manta will be available with two four-cylinder turbo engines. There will be a 150 kW 2-litre power train and a 169 kW 2.2-litre unit.
The original Manta made its first appearance at the Paris Motor Show in September 1970. Originally there were three versions - a base model, the Manta Deluxe (L) and the Manta Rallye (SR).
The original car was styled under the direction of Chuck Jordan.
