Rossi F1 test pace worries

25/01/2010 07:52

ROME, Jan 23 - Yamaha are concerned they could lose Valentino Rossi to F1 after the MotoGP world champion clocked good times in tests this week for Ferrari.

"I have to be worried about these excellent times because Valentino really could get the desire to change sport," Yamaha team manager Davide Brivio told Saturday's La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"The greatest danger is Ferrari (not MotoGP rivals Ducati)." Ferrari have previously tried to recruit Rossi, whose contract with Yamaha expires at the end of this season.

Italian Rossi completed more than 600km behind the wheel at the Circuit de Catalunya and had a best time of one minute 21.900 seconds, compared to Jenson Button's pole position time of 1:20.527.

Erm, that was pole time. The lap record during race conditions is 1:21.670 set by K Raikkonen. Thats only 0.2 off. Condsidering it was in a Ferrari it is even more impressive.

At 1.4 sec slower, the Doctor is way off the mark. Yamaha need not worry.

That's more than a second! In racing that is HUGE! Or maybe the thinking is that he will improve with time ...but then so might Button! Stick to the bikes Doctor!
