Ducati Panigale stars at NEC

Ducati will include in the 2011 Motorcycle Live event at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre the unveiling of a  model that, it says, is sure to steal the show.

"In 2009 the Multistrada stunned visitors with its technology and innovation," the bikemaker said. "In 2010 the Diavel wowed the crowds by redefining and reinventing the cruiser class... Motorcycle Live 2011 will play host to the new 1199 Panigale, spearheading the most impressive model range in Ducati’s history."

PANIGALE THE STAR, BUT...

Heavy stuff...

Although the 1199 Panigale will be the star of the Ducati show, its stand will have something for everybody. The Diavel, MCN’s "machine of the year", has an undoubted presence and those drawn to this award-winning bike will be able to see for the first time the Diavel Cromo and the special edition Diavel AMG.

The Multistrada, now firmly established in the bikes market, will show off its latest family member - the Pikes Peak Special Edition in celebration of its recent successes at this famous hill climb in Colorado, US. The Multistrada 1200S Touring is also now available in a new Titanium colour for 2012.

HIGH-SPEED, HIGH-TECH: Ducati's new Panigale is packed with performance and confidence-inspiring safety features.

The Streetfighter range sees the introduction of the new 848 model with new 848 Testastretta 11° engine providing user-friendliness with a smooth and flexible power delivery. The Streetfighter 848 also has enhanced geometry for the chassis that provides confidence-inspiring agility, revised ergonomics and Ducati traction control.

NOT THE ONLY ADDITION

The Hypermotard range remains largely unchanged at the show other than the addition of the 1100 EVO SP Corse Edition with full red, white and black Ducati Corse colours. The iconic Monster range has some minor changes and all models will be on display on the Ducati stand.

The 1199 Panigale is not the only addition to the Superbike range. 2012 will see the arrival of the 848EVO Corse Special Edition with traction control, quick-shift, Öhlins rear suspension, 330mm brake discs and Ducati Corse colours.

Finally, there's the 1199 Panigale which, Ducati says, has so many new features that visitors to the stand could spend many hours just discovering the detail of the most advanced Superbike yet seen at Motorcycle Live.

The completely new Superquadro engine, so called because of its very over-square bore and stroke ratio, has increased power to an a production twin-cylinder high point of astonishing 145kW and torque to 132Nm.

NEWE MODEL, NEW ENGINE: The Streetfighter range sees the introduction of the new 848 model with new 848 Testastretta 11° engine.

To deliver the target weight-saving, the engine now becomes an integral part of the chassis to bring the bike down to 164kg - what Ducati says is the best production motorcycle power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios in the world.

With the click of a button the Ducati’s riding modes combine seven technologies. The latest-generation sports anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic suspension, "Quick-Shift", engine braking control, ride-by-wire and an advanced liquid-crystal display instrument panel.
