CARDIFF, Wales - Jeff Pritchard, 66, of Colwyn Bay in North Wales took the saying "you're never too old" literally early in 2012, and took on a lifelong biking dream.
He hopped aboard his 1994 BMW R100GS, said goodbye to everybody, and headed down the road. To Thailand, 16 000km away. It took him 11 weeks...
He was tracked the whole way on his charity ride by Bike Trac.
'GREAT REASSURANCE'
Pritchard rode through Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Laos, safe in the knowledge that his route was being followed by his family, live, from the comfort of their home computer. On top of this, they would have even been notified if he had suffered a fall from the bike thanks to the unique 'Bike Down' function from Bike Trac.
Jeff said: "Having Bike Trac was a great reassurance. While the journey was an absolute dream come true, it's always nice to know that your loved ones know where you are and that if something unexpected happens they'll know pretty much straight away.
"It's been great to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK and I'd like to thank everybody who supported me on this journey."
Jeff ended his epic trip on November 7 2012 with a welcome home party held just over a week later.
