Motorrad Executive Rentals, situated at Auto Alpina Motorcycles in Boksburg, offers two-wheel enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the country with BMW Motorrad's extensive range of motorcycles.

Auto Alpina, a long-established BMW Motorrad dealer, has received many requests from international tourists wanting to hire a BMW motorcycle while they were travelling in South Africa.

According to Rupert Culwick of Auto Alpina, the establishment of the rental company provides motorcycling enthusiasts with the ideal opportunity to get a taste of the inimitable BMW lifestyle and the South African countryside.

"To date rental periods have varied from one to 21 days, which makes it ideal for motorcyclists who want to familiarise themselves with the various BMW models and to test drive them for an extended period of time," he said.

Close to airport

International touring parties can easily be accommodated as the agency is situated close to the Johannesburg International Airport where clients can be collected by arrangement.

Motorrad Executive Rentals also does transfers and deliveries across the country. Clients can include neighbouring countries such as Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana in their travels.

"BMW motorcycle rentals works on exactly the same principles as normal car rentals, with a variety of rental options available," said Colin Gallop, general manager at Motorrad Executive Rentals.

"For insurance purposes you need to be over 25 years old and in possession of a valid South African or international driver's licence".

Motorrad Executive Rentals currently has 20 motorcycles in its fleet, coverings the BMW model range of on-road and off-road bikes. All motorcycles are also equipped with ABS, and heated grips and panniers, but clients need to provide their own helmets, gloves and protective motorcycling clothing.

Apart from all the usual rental services, the company also provides a travel advisory service to assist motorcyclists in planning their journey.

"So far we have had a very positive response from everyone and bookings continue to grow by the day," said Gallop.

"We are looking to open up an agency in Cape Town in the near future to expand our current rental fleet to accommodate the growing demand."
