A new version of Honda’s legendary touring motorcycle, the Gold Wing, will be available on world markets from the end of 2011 with new a number of new features.
Among them are styling that is more dynamic and which provides a modern, sleek look and improved weather protection as well as better stability due to a more streamlined airflow.
Revised front and rear suspensions enhance performance, ride quality and stability, Honda says, and bigger luggage capacity and upgraded audio and navigation systems are part of the package.
ONLY BIKE WITH AIRBAG
As with previous models, the Gold Wing will have anti-lock brakes and an airbag, the latter introduced in 2006 and the Gold Wing is still the only motorcycle so equipped.
Accessories for the Gold Wing include a colour-matched rear spoiler with built-in brake lights, high intensity fog lights, helmet communications headsets, pannier and trunk liners, chromed covers and a pillion armrest extension.
The Gold Wing will be available in three new colours: blue metallic, pearl white and black. Prices will be announced closer to its launch date, which is as yet uncertain in South Africa.
The current SA model costs R230 000.
