A former employee of electric sports car manufacturer Tesla Motors, has unveiled what is claimed to be the fastest electrical two-wheeler in the world: a tyre-shredding motorcycle dubbed Mission One.
According to the company behind the project, San Francisco-based Mission Motors, the Mission One will have a top speed of 241km/h and a range of 240km before you’ll need to find a power socket.
And even then it will only need two hours at the plug before its lithium-ion battery is good for another 240km.
The electric motor which powers the bike is expected to have a mule-strong and linear supply of torque, unlike the traditional bell-shaped torque curve of a combustion engine. On the road this will translate to speedier performance, and because there aren’t any gears to change, acceleration will be quicker still.
Mission One’s gorgeous stealth fighter-like lines were penned by industrial designer Yves Behar. Pure and simple yet brutally punchy, it is guaranteed to stand out in any crowd.
An electrical bike which tears to 240km/h and only needs two hours to recharge sounds almost too good to be true. But very early adopters can already place their orders here.
Oh, and did we mention you’ll have to part with $68,995 (just shy of R700 000) for the pleasure of parking this baby in your garage?

HONEYCOMB LATTICE: Just like the bits in a bees' next, such design is ultra-strong and very light.

EVERYTHING ELECTRONIC: The Misson One's flight deck is all ditigial - it's lighter for one thing.
