This year celebrates the 30th birthday of BMW’s legendary GS models. To mark the occasion we've compiled a gallery of which spans the history of this iconic brand.
The original 1980 R80 Gelände/Strasse (literally translating to veld/road) was powered by a 797cc boxer engine and set out to combine off-road and on-road qualities.
More recently BMW’s go-anywhere model became somewhat of a celebrity on the Long Way Round starring Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman, and its sequel Long Way Down.
In the three decades after first being launched the GS has developed a cult-like following that has dominated the adventure motorcycle market. This is our visual homage to one of the greatest motorcycle brands ever.
