SUPERBIKE: MV Agusta's FR44 maybe the motorcycle manufacturer's most advanced model yet.
If the likes of a Honda Fireblade or even a Ducati 1198 SP simply doesn’t cut it anymore then feast your eyes on this: MV Agusta’s new F4RR unveiled in Italy.
Packing a whopping 147.7kW from its 998cc engine, the F4RR boasts a revamped engine with a larger bore and shorter stroke as well as bigger head valves which have been fashioned from titanium. As a result the full power of the new machine is only available at 13400rpm.
The F44RR’s powertrain has been completely redesigned with maximum performance as its single goal. Apart from the engine-case castings, the arrangement of cylinders and a few other elements, the four-cylinder RR engine shares little with that of the previous F4.
MULTI-ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION
According to MV Agusta, the new bike was created using the most exotic materials, ultra-sophisticated suspension and the new 1000cc short-stroke engine to create the “most powerful superbike ever built".
To optimise performance and adapt the F4 RR to tracks and varying conditions, the F4 RR has a multi-adjustable suspension that has been combined with the adjustable steering-head angle (with interchangeable eccentrics) and the height of the swing-arm pivot and rear axle by means of calibrated inserts.
The F4 RR also debuts new adjustable light rear seats to match the ergonomics of the bike to the needs of the rider.
Other highlights include new lightweight pistons forged from “aerospace RR alloy”, a new 4-2-1-4 exhaust, variable length intake runners, Öhlins multi-adjustable 43mm fork, Öhlins steering damper and forged aluminium rims.
In Italy the new model is selling for the equivalent of R226 000.
