The first official images of the new Suzuki V-Strom 650 have been leaked onto the internet, by the Japanese bikemaker itself.
It appears Suzuki erroneously uploaded the images to its European website ahead of the model’s official unveiling. Or did it...? Anyway, from our gallery images the new model doesn't appear to be trying anything new in terms of design.
LOWER COMPRESSION
The specs remain virtually unchanged from its predecessor and the 2012 model will be powered by the same 645cc, SV650-derived, 90-degree V-twin as the outgoing model.
Changes to the new model included a slight decrease in compression ratio (11.2:1 from 11.5:1), some weight has been shaved off (to 214kg from 220kg) and there's a slight increase in seat height (to 83.6cm from 82.6cm).
Styling changes also appears to be minor compared to its predessor as the headlights are slighty rounder and it gains plastic panels.
The new model will be available in three colours: Pearl Mirage White, Glass Sparkle Black and Metallic Fox Orange.
