Steven Odendaal will be the first South African to enter the 2013 Moto2 GP World championship - one stop down from MotoGP racing.
Odendaal (20), born in Johannesburg, has been registered with Motorsport SA since he was six and began his career racing off-road bikes before advancing to Regional racing 50cc at the age of 10 (the youngest SA rider at the time).
PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN
After achieving the highest level in 600cc Regional racing he received his Gauteng colours and moved up to South African National championship racing 600cc bikes. He was second overall in 2010.
"This is my passion," he said. "I've dreamed of doing this all my life and now I have the opportunity to train and ride with an international team. I’m proud to represent my country as one of few South Africans in this category of motor racing.”
He will race for Team Arguinano y Gines Racing in the 2013 Moto2 World championship category and is looking for more sponsors.
