MOTEGI, Japan - MotoGP organiser Dorna has agreed a new deal with Honda-owned Mobilityland that will see the Japanese GP held at Twin Ring Motegi until 2018.
Dorna said it and Mobilityland, which operates the Motegi and Suzuka circuits, had penned a new contract to stage the GP event at Motegi for another five years after the current deal expires in 2013.
'MOST IMPORTANT'
Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said: "Japan is where the prominent manufacturers of MotoGP, such as Honda and Yamaha, are based and the GP at Motegi is one of the most important events in the championship."
Motegi staged the Japanese GP in 1999 before hosting it again in 2004 and every year since.
For the intervening years the Japanese GP was raced at Suzuka. Motegi hosted the Pacific GP from 2000-2003.
