These are the first images to be released of a model which Honda hopes will be a worthy rival in the competitive crossover segment.
Pitched against the likes of BMW’s F800 GS and Triumph’s Tiger 800, Honda promises the new crossover “will have the flexibility and exciting attitude of a naked performance machine and the upright riding position and rugged appearance of an adventure bike”.
What we don’t know is whether the bike will be at all eager to get dirty or whether it will be unashamedly biased towards tarred roads. There’s also the question of where it will fit into Honda’s line-up against the current XL700V TransAlp.
The new bike will be launched at Milan’s EICMA motorcycle show on November 2, 2010 along with a concept motorcycle based on the 1200cc V4 engine first seen in the VFR1200F.
In true teaser style, the images so far released ahead of the bike’s official launch don’t give much away about the new crossover’s styling, but from what we can tell it appears to build on the DNA of Honda’s former Varadero
One of the revealed images shows the “face” of the motorcycle with a fairing that Honda says “improves high speed stability and engine cooling” along with an innovative “floating” instrument panel to keep the gauges in the rider’s field of vision.
